Sử dụng chung máy in HP qua print server

1. Cấu hình địa chỉ IP cho máy in

Ví dụ: nếu bạn muốn cấu hình máy in có địa chỉ:

IP: 192.168.1.100

Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Syslog server: 192.168.1.1

Default gateway: 192.168.1.254

IP Byte 1: 192*, IP Byte 2: 168*, IP Byte 3: 1*, IP Byte 4: 100*

SM Byte1: 255*, SM Byte2: 255*, SM Byte3: 255*, SM Byte4: 0*

LG Byte1: 192*, LG Byte2: 168*, LG Byte3: 1*, LG Byte4: 1*

GW Byte1: 192*, GW Byte2: 168*, GW Byte3: 1*, GW Byte4: 254*

- Bấm nút Go hoặc Online để lưu lại cấu hình vào JetDirect.

- In tờ Self Test để kiểm tra địa chỉ IP đã cấu hình.

Chú ý: đừng quan tâm đến CFG NETWORK=XXX, CFG TCP/IP=XXX (XXX=YES/NO). Sau khi đã cấu hình là YES, thông số này sẽ xuất hiện là NO.

- Chọn Local printer attached to this computer, bấm Next.

- Chọn Create a new Port và chọn loại cổng (Type of Port) là Standard TCP/IP port.

- Gõ địa chỉ IP của máy in (nói ở phần 1 vào ô Printer Name or IP Address, bấm Next.

- Chọn loại máy in (ở ví dụ này là HP LaserJet 5M).

- Đặt tên máy in vào ô Printer name.

- Nếu bạn muốn chia sẻ máy in thì chọn vào Share name rồi gõ tên của máy in vào ô này.

- Bấm Finish để kết thúc cài đặt máy in.

Print from anywhere on your home network—even wirelessly. Here's how.

As households become multicomputer homes in increasing numbers, more and more people need to figure out how to use one printer from two or more PCs. Sure, you can constantly plug and unplug the printer cable, use Windows' Print Sharing function, or e-mail files to the PC that's directly hooked up to your printer. But if you're tired of such workarounds and want to have your printer accessible from any PC in your house, at any time, you need a print server.

Cài Đặt Print Server - Install a Print Server 107dp301u1a96a6e

Step 1: Step 1: Making the hardware connection

Some printers—usually, pricier units geared toward small businesses—come with a built-in Ethernet port, which makes them innately networkable. But if you have a printer that's not network-ready—most consumer-level printers aren't—a print server is your best alternative.

Print servers come in several forms, sometimes even integrated into other devices. A stand-alone print server is a small device that enables your printer to communicate with all the computers on your network. Here, we'll discuss setting one up under Windows XP so that every computer connected to your network, wired or wirelessly, can use your printer.

We used the D-Link DP-301U, a $64.99 USB-based wired print server. (To print wirelessly using this model, your network must have a wireless-capable router.) It connects to your router via an Ethernet cable and can only be used with USB-interface printers. (You can also find a few print servers available with parallel ports, for older printers.) Here, we hooked up the DP-301U to an HP LaserJet 1200 with a USB interface.

Turn off your printer before you start. Before powering up the DP-301U, you need to connect it to a network port on your router using a straight-through (not crossover) Ethernet cable. (You'll have to provide this.) Then, connect the printer to the print server using the USB cable that currently connects the printer to your PC. Next, switch on the printer, plug in the print server's power adapter, and connect it to the DP-301U.

Step 2: Addressing the server

Now that the printer is connected to the print server—and the print server to your router—you have to make your network "see" the device. You'll use the DP-301U's Web-based configuration tool to assign the print server an IP address that works with your network.

Grab a pad and pencil. First, write down the print server's default address (192.168.0.10, according to the manual). Next, you'll need to choose a static IP address, within a similar range as the print server's default IP address, that's not currently in use on your network (we used 192.168.0.52) and that's within the same subnet mask (usually 255.255.255.0). You'll dedicate this IP address temporarily to your PC to enable you to access the print server.

Next, you'll need to determine the IP address of the networked PC you're currently using. (It should be a PC that's wired directly into your router.) Find it by going to Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt; type ipconfig /all and hit Enter. Write down the IP address of your PC's current network connection (for us, 192.168.2.2).

Now, go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections. Right-click on your Ethernet Local Area Connection, and click Properties. Under "This connection uses the following items:" select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)," and click Properties. Under the General tab, select "Use the following IP address:" and input the address you chose earlier (we plugged in 192.168.0.52) and the subnet mask (255.255.255.0). Click OK, then Close. (Note: Assuming you have broadband, you'll probably be temporarily kicked off your Net connection on this PC.)

Step 3: Use the print server's Web-configuration tool

Now, enter the print server's IP address in your Web browser to access its configuration tool. For the DP-301U's tool, we entered http://192.168.0.10, per D-Link's instructions. Using the tool, we then changed the IP address of the print server to one appropriate for our network; our router's original IP address was 192.168.2.1, so we changed the IP address of the DP-301U to one in the same subnet. In most basic home-network scenarios, you do this by changing the number after the last period in the IP address to one not used by another PC or device on your network. So, under the Network tab, we entered 192.168.2.10 for the print server's IP address, and hit Save.

The other information we need from the tool is the USB port name, which you'll need in the next step. We found it in the Port Setting section under the Configuration tab.

Finally, you need to restore the IP-address setting of the PC you're using to get your normal network connectivity back. In Start > Control Panel > Network Connections, right-click the connection you altered and click Properties; steer to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties as you did earlier; and under "Use the following IP address:" restore the PC's original IP address if it has a static address (in our case, 192.168.2.2) or select "Obtain an IP address automatically" if your broadband provider uses dynamic IP addresses.

Step 4: Configure the TCP/IP printer port

At this point, you should be ready to add the newly networked printer to the Printers and Faxes section in Windows XP and have it print correctly from multiple PCs. Go to Start > Control Panel > Printers and Faxes, then select Add Printer. You'll be greeted with the initial screen of the Add Printer wizard. Click Next, then make sure that "Local printer attached to this computer" is selected before clicking Next again.

On the Select a Printer Port page, select "Create a new port," highlight Standard TCP/IP Port from the drop-down menu below, and click Next. You'll be ushered to the Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port wizard, where you should click Next. On the Add Port page, you enter your network printer's IP address in the Printer Name or IP Address field. (The Port Name field automatically adds "IP_" and the IP address.) Click Next. You'll then move to the Additional Port Information Required page, which will inform you that the detected device is of an unknown type. Under Device Type, select Custom, then click Settings. The Configure Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor window will pop up with the Port Name and Printer Name or IP Address fields automatically filled in. Under Protocol, select LPR, and under LPR Settings, type the port name in the Queue Name field and click OK. You're returned to the Additional Port Information Required page, where you should click Next. Select Finish on the next page to complete the TCP/IP Printer Port wizard section.

Next, you're ready to associate the TCP/IP port with your specific printer make and model. Under Install Printer Software, you'll see a list of printer manufacturers on the left; click one, and the column at right populates with that company's printers. Select your printer, then click Next. (If you don't see your printer listed, you must insert the CD that came with the printer to install the correct driver.) If you've already installed your printer on this PC, the next screen will ask whether you want to reinstall the drivers. Windows recommends you don't, so just click Next. You're then prompted to give the printer a name, which will show up in the list of available printers when you print from any application.

Finally, you're ready to test your installation—you'll be asked to print a test page. (By default, Yes is selected.) Click Next, and a test page should emerge from your printer. A successful test page concludes the Add Printer wizard—click Finish.

Step 5: Configure other computers on your network

Once you've configured the network printer to work on this PC, you need to repeat Step 4 for the other computers from which you want to print. (You may have to slightly modify Step 4 depending on each PC's setup.) Go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes > Add Printer. Then go through the Add Printer wizard, selecting the local printer option, creating a new TCP/IP port, and so on, as explained earlier. When you're done, you should have anytime, anywhere printing access—without any hassles.
