Setting Up An Email Account on Your iPhone

1. If this is the first account you are setting up on iPhone, tap Mail. Otherwise, skip to Step 2.
2. From the Home screen, tap Settings. (See Figure 1)
Note, your Settings may be on another screen if you have moved it.

In the New Account window tap Name and type in your Full Name
Tap the Address field and type in your UCI email address.
Tap the Password field and type in your UCInetID password.
Tap the Description field to change the description name if you wish. (Optional)
Tap the Save button. (See Figure 5)

Under Incoming Mail Server, tap the Host Name field and type in imap.uci.edu (See Figure 7)
Tap the User Name field and type in your UCInetID
The password should be filled in for you from the previous screen.

Touch and scroll to the Outgoing Mail Server section.
Tap the Host Name field and type in smtp.uci.edu
Tap the User Name field and type in your UCInetID
Tap the Password field and type in your UCInetID password
Tap the Save button at the top of the screen. (See Figure

Mail will verify your settings by connecting to the server. You will need to have a WiFi or AT&T Edge Internet connection.
Tip: iPhone Mail requires saving your password. Anyone who has access to your iPhone may read and send email on your behalf. You may want to consider turning on Passcode Lock. This will require typing in the passcode each time you turn on your iPhone. While this may seem inconvenient, it will help protect your email and other iPhone data if your iPhone is lost or stolen.

Checking Your Mail
Tap the Home button on your iPhone.
Tap the Mail icon in the lower pane. (See Figure 9)

Mail will download your incoming messages into your Inbox. (See Figure 10)
If you have multiple accounts, you may have to select it by going back to the Accounts menu. Do this by clicking the button at the top left of the screen (shown as someone@uci.edu in the image below) until you get to your accounts.

Tap the message you want to read in your Inbox.
Your other IMAP Mailboxes are available by tapping the account name button in the top left of the screen. (Shown as someone@uci.edu in the image above.)
Troubleshooting Tip
UCI requires SSL connections for IMAP, POP and SMTP connections. By default, the iPhone uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption for POP, IMAP, and SMTP. If you are getting a password incorrect error, your password may be entered in wrong or you may have SSL turned off. You may verify the SSL settings by:

Go to Home > Settings > Mail > Accounts
Tap on your UCI Account
Scroll down and tap on Advanced
Under Settings, verify that Incoming Uses SSL and Outgoing Uses SSL are both turned ON.

Bạn đã từng sử dụng tiện ích của Outlook để gửi và nhận email với hòm thư gmail của mình trên máy tính, vậy tại sao không sử dụng iPhone để làm việc này khi không làm việc trên máy tính hay công việc của bạn thường xuyên phải di chuyển?

Dưới đây là các bước cài đặt cho iPhone của bạn sử dụng được tiện ích hòm thư của gmail:

- Đầu tiên bạn đăng nhập vào địa chỉ hòm thư gmail của bạn trên web.

-Tiếp theo, bạn chọn vào link “Settings”

- Kế đó, chọn tab “Forwarding and POP”

-Trong mục “IMAP Access”, bạn chọn : “Enable IMAP”. Lựa chọn này giúp bạn kích hoạt, cho phép duyệt e-mail của Gmail trên iPhone.

- Sau đó click Save changes để lưu lại lại cấu hình.

Công việc tiếp theo là khởi động chiếc iPhone của bạn lên chọn Tap Settings -> Tap Mail -> Tap Add Account-> Tap Other.

Tại tab IMAP bạn điền đầy đủ các thông tin như sau:
Điền đầy thông tin:
Name: Tên của bạn
Address: Địa chỉ của bạn
Description: Ghi chú

- Mục incoming Mail Server

Host Name: Bạn điền imap.gmail.com
User Name: Địa chỉ hòm thư của bạn, ví dụ: duyminhsoftware@gmail.com
Password: Mật khẩu đăng nhập hòm thư của bạn.

- Mục Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) ở phía dưới:

Host Name: Bạn điền smtp.gmail.com
User Name: Địa chỉ hòm thư của bạn, ví dụ: duyminhsoftware@gmail.com
Password: Mật khẩu đăng nhập hòm thư của bạn.

Chọn Save để lưu lại cấu hình vừa cài đặt.

Tiếp theo bạn vào Gmail IMAP Account của bạn vừa tạo ra chọn Advanced

Bạn chỉnh lại tại mục này các thông số sau:

Incoming Settings
Use SSL: ON
Authentication: password
Server Port: 993

Outgoing Settings
Use SSL: ON
Authentication: Password
Server Port: 587
Sau đó bạn thoát khỏi chương trình và khởi động lại chiếc iPhone của bạn.
Công việc cài đặt cho chiếc iPhone của bạn có thể sử dụng được hòm thư của gmail đã hoàn tất, bây giờ bạn hoàn toàn có thể gửi và nhận email của bạn trên iPhone rồi.
